This is the evidence that there are still uplifting black metal bands. Lunaris sounds really renewing and that isn’t something you hear a lot nowadays. But what else can you expect if you look at the musicians of this band, for this band features elite members of Borknagar, Spiral Architect and Satyricon. Drummer Asgeir Mickelson (Spiral Architect), guitarists Azarak (Spiral Architect and Satyricon) and M, bassist and vocalist Maztema (Spiral Architect), vocalist Balfori (ex-1349) and Janos Di Croce are responsible for this fine piece of art.

This album is really great. You can hear the typical black sound; fast guitars, grim vocals and a lot of aggression. But Lunaris goes further, they do not stop where most bands do. To complete their music they have a lot of different influences.

Harsh and evil parts pass my eardrum, as well as slow, sensitive parts. Great solo, nice bass parts and last but not least the variety of different styles of vocals. In addition to the grim vocals they also use clean vocals, as they are found in heavy metal, and although this is done a lot these days it sounds great. What really is a surprise to me, is the song ‘Growth Denied’. I can clearly hear the jazz influences. A link to symphonic metal, for example Dream Theater, is quickly made.

Almost everything about this album is great, the different vocals, the high quality musicians, the extremity and the emotion behind the songs. Mainman M has done a very good job with …The Infinite.
