If you`re into punk mayhem, Liberty, the second full length release by California based punk band Mad Marge and the Stonecutters is one you might want to check out. The album features eleven very tight, uplifting punk rockers, clocking close to forty-five minutes in total. The solid rhythm section, drum and double bass, form the firm base from where female vocalist Mad Marge explores her vocal capacities. She proves to be an excellent punk vocalist. Her voice is full of energy and has lots of variety in melody and color. | |
Despite the fact that I really like this release I must admit that not all the tracks are top level, "In The Name Off" and "Dial Z For Zombie" just fall short in comparison to forceful killers "No Looking Back" and "Walk Away". Overall Liberty impresses, the album is just great fun to listen to. Mad Marge and the Stonecutters will be touring Europe by the close of the year. Judging by the album, these gigs should be well worth checking out! (Geert) |
