This super band with five big boys from the metal scene did it again. “Down III: Over The Under” is the step forward after a little disappointing “Down II: A Bustle In Your Hedgerow”.
Of course there been a lot of changes in the lives of the bandmembers. There hometown, New Orleans, was devestated bij Katrina and Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown’s former bandmember of Pantera Dimebag Darrell was murdered on stage. Singer Phil Anselmo has his own personal battles, he wasn’t welcome at Darrell’s funeral and struggled with a drug addiction. All these influences are terrible, but on the brightside it gave them the power to make a great album! This album is darker then the other ones.

You can hear that they pour their emotions into their music. Phil Anselmo is back in shape and his voice sounds better than ever. He does much less screaming here and really puts his heart and soul into his lyrics. Like the integer ‘Never Try’ and the kick ass track of the year ‘Pillamyd’. Jimmy Bouwer (Eyehategod) is showing of on his drumkit like a wild animal, like in ‘On March the Saints’. Pepper Keenan plays like he has the pepper in his #ss and makes this roller coaster a real classic to be. This is a southern metal on the highest levels, stop reading start buying.
