Before we go on with the questions, could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Bert Vissers, I’m programmer for The Kade since four years, and before those four years another five on a different location. I`m 47 and I have a nine months old daughter. Besides music my other hobbies are films, travelling and lounge around.

What can you tell me about the history of The Kade? And about the staff?
The Kade originated after The Drieluik at Zaandam got in trouble with noise pollution. Since The Kade receives relatively few allowance, there`s a small staff with a manager, a publicity worker, a headman techniques and a director. Furthermore around 20 helpers for the bar, the cloakroom and the pay desk. Also there are around 10 technicians.

What has The Kade got that other venues in the Netherlands don`t have?
A jovial atmosphere and fair prices.

You are the Kade programmer, how did you end there?
I started as programmer in the Sleep Inn (nowadays Hotel Arena-Amsterdam) and when there came a vacancy in The Drieluik I just applied.

Which proceedings take place before a band actually performs in the Kade?
First I have to contact the band of course. Than we have to negotiate about the price and other terms. The planning of the advance booking, the publicity, the technical requirements. When there`s a wavering presale there`s more publicity necessary. On the day itself we have to put ready the catering, build op the technique, treat the band, do a sound check, eat, open the doors and play!!

Do you visit all of the concerts at the Kade yourself?
Since my daughter is born fewer, but I try to come and take a look as much as possible.

To your opinion, what was the best gig in the Kade this season?
The season is from September till September so I`ll give you a top-5 from the year.
1. Riverside
2. Johan
3. Opgezwolle
4. Gare du Nord
5. Stream of Passion

Is there anything you want to share with our readers?
Buy Dutch goods! Not everything from a foreign land is automatic better. And don`t download too much, than there won`t be much musicians left in the end.
